Susan T. Dumais, born August 11, 1953, is an American computer scientist who is a leader in the field of information retrieval and a significant contributor to Microsoft's search technologies. Mary Jane Irwin, who heads the Athena Lecture awards committee, has said that her sustained contributions have shaped the thinking and direction of human-computer interaction and information retrieval. In 2025 she was elected to the American Philosophical Society.
