MDX

Query Language

MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) is a query language for online analytical processing (OLAP) databases, and a calculation language for multidimensional data structures known as cubes, originally developed by Microsoft for its SQL Server Analysis Services in the late 1990s. MDX enables retrieval and computation over cube data organized by dimensions, hierarchies and measures, and was later adopted by a range of other OLAP products beyond Microsoft's own.
