BESK was Sweden's first electronic computer, using vacuum tubes rather than relays, and was developed by Matematikmaskinnamnden, the Swedish Board for Computing Machinery. For a short time after its completion in 1953 it was the fastest computer in the world, and it remained in use until 1966.
