IS-DOS

Operating System

IS-DOS is a disk operating system developed for Soviet and Russian ZX Spectrum clone computers. It was created in 1990 or 1991 by Iskra Soft in Leningrad, Soviet Union, now Saint Petersburg, Russia, as a closed-source, proprietary system with a monolithic kernel. IS-DOS supports floppy disks in double-sided, double-density format, hard disk drives, and CD-ROMs, with a maximum partition size of 16 mebibytes. Unlike the earlier TR-DOS, IS-DOS resides in random access memory, which reduces the memory available to user programs. It was influenced by TR-DOS and, as of its documented sources, remains a current rather than discontinued system for ZX Spectrum clone hardware.

Entity-backed identity for the license enum value this item already carries, resolved to a software license concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The license fact itself stays on the item unchanged.
