MIDAC, the Michigan Digital Automatic Computer, was the University of Michigan's first computer. Work on it began in 1951 under the joint sponsorship of the Wright Air Development Center and the United States Air Force together with the university's Willow Run Research Center, intended to help solve certain complex military problems.
