NEC SX-ACE

Supercomputer

The SX-ACE is a vector supercomputer from NEC Corporation, based on the company's SX series and released in 2013. It features NEC's first multi-core system on a chip vector processor design, with four cores. Each core runs at 1 GHz, delivers a peak of 64 GFLOPS and has 64 gigabytes per second of memory bandwidth. Four cores make up a shared-memory node, and 64 nodes fit in one rack for a total performance of 16 TFLOPS per rack. The machine is used by Earth Simulator 3. NEC released the successor to the SX-ACE, the SX-Aurora TSUBASA, in 2017.
