OpenSSI

OpenSSI is an open source single system image clustering system that enables a collection of computers to function as one unified system. It was developed by the OpenSSI Team, based on Linux, and released as an open source project by Compaq in 2001. The project built on decades of earlier research originating from LOCUS, a distributed operating system created at UCLA in the early 1980s. OpenSSI allows processes running on any node full access to the resources of all nodes, and supports automatic process migration for load balancing, along with optional fault tolerant, high availability clustering features.
