Kuznyechik, Russian for grasshopper, is a symmetric block cipher with a 128-bit block size and a 256-bit key length, defined in the Russian Federation's national standard GOST R 34.12-2015 and also in RFC 7801. The standard defines Kuznyechik alongside the older GOST block cipher, now called Magma, without declaring the older cipher obsolete, and Kuznyechik is built on a substitution-permutation network whose key schedule uses a Feistel network; its S-boxes have drawn scrutiny for being, according to the designers, randomly generated.
