RC5 is a symmetric-key block cipher in cryptography notable for its simplicity, designed by Ronald Rivest in 1994. According to Rivest, RC stands for Ron's Code, though its documentation gives only RC5 as its name. The Advanced Encryption Standard candidate RC6 was based on RC5.
