Artistic License 2.0

Software License

The Artistic License is an open-source license used for certain free and open-source software packages, most notably the standard implementation of the Perl programming language and most CPAN modules, which are dual-licensed under the Artistic License and the GNU General Public License. Version 2.0 arose from the request for comments process for improving the licensing position of Raku, in which a draft by Kuhn was extensively rewritten by Roberta Cairney and Allison Randal for readability and legal clarity, with input from the Perl community, and it has been approved as both a free software and open source license. The article notes its excellent compatibility with other free and open-source licenses because of a relicensing clause, and the Open Source Initiative recommends that projects adopt it over version 1.0.
