Weak Typing

Foundational Concept

Weak typing, also called loose typing, is the colloquial name for a language that is less strict about type errors. The cited article, titled Type safety because the title Weak typing redirects to it, says programming languages are often colloquially classified as strongly typed or weakly typed, also loosely typed, to refer to certain aspects of type safety, and that in contrast to a type-safe language, a weakly typed language may produce unpredictable results or may perform implicit type conversion. The article defines type safety as the extent to which a programming language discourages or prevents type errors, for example adding a string to an integer. Languages the atlas records as weakly typed are grouped under this entry.

Typing Discipline Of Language

Entity-backed identity for the typing discipline value this language already carries as an enum fact, resolved to a concept entity by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The enum fact itself stays on the entity unchanged.
