Data and information visualization is the practice of designing and creating graphic or visual representations of quantitative and qualitative data and information using static, dynamic or interactive visual items. These visualizations are meant to help a target audience visually explore and discover, quickly understand, interpret and gain insight into structures, relationships, correlations, patterns, trends, variations and clusters within data that would otherwise be difficult to identify; when aimed at the public to convey a concise version of information in an engaging way, the practice is typically called infographics.
