Interaction Design and Interfaces

Fields concerned with how people communicate with computers and how interfaces are designed around human needs. It covers the study and design of user interfaces, interfaces that read signals from the brain, systems that sense and respond to human emotion, and the design of interaction between people and robots. A field belongs here when it centers on the exchange between a person and a machine. It excludes immersive environments and visualization, collaboration between people, and pervasive devices, which are separate groups.
