XPath (XML Path Language) is an expression language used to navigate, select, and query nodes in XML documents, and is also used more broadly for navigation around other structures, such as computing values from the content of documents, in JSON and HTML processing. It is defined by the World Wide Web Consortium and forms a major element in XSLT, XQuery and XPointer, all of which use XPath expressions to address and match parts of an XML document.
