Zig is a general-purpose, imperative, statically typed, compiled system programming language, first released by Andrew Kelley in 2016, intended as a modern alternative to C. Zig aims for simplicity, performance and robustness, with no hidden control flow, no hidden memory allocations, and no preprocessor or macros; instead, metaprogramming is achieved through the compile-time execution of ordinary Zig code, and Zig can also be used to compile C and C++ code.
