Apache Mynewt is a modular real-time operating system for Internet of Things devices that must run within strict power, memory and storage limits. It incubated under the Apache Software Foundation as free and open source software under the Apache License 2.0, and its name plays on the word minute because its kernel occupies only about 6 kilobytes. The system ships with a full Bluetooth Low Energy 4.2 stack, and a complete image with BLE and standard utilities such as a filesystem, console, shell and logging runs to roughly 96 kilobytes on the Nordic nRF51822 Bluetooth chip.
