Mikhail Donskoy was a Soviet and Russian computer scientist, born in 1948 and a 1970 graduate of Moscow State University. He was a principal developer of Kaissa, the computer chess program that won the first World Computer Chess Championship in 1974, working at the Institute of Control Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences and later the Institute of System Analysis. He subsequently founded the company DISCo and worked on database development and Symbian-based dictionary software interfaces. He died in Moscow in 2009.
