Bongshin Lee

Bongshin Lee is a South Korean computer scientist whose research covers information visualization, human-computer interaction, the quantified self, and methods for automatically converting hand-drawn sketches into working data visualizations. Educated and employed in both South Korea and the United States, she earned her doctorate from the University of Maryland in 2006 under Ben Bederson, then spent more than a decade as a senior principal researcher at Microsoft Research before returning to South Korea as a professor at Yonsei University. She was named to the IEEE Visualization Academy in 2020 and became an ACM Distinguished Member in 2025.
