Jeffrey Heer

Jeffrey Michael Heer (born June 15, 1979) is an American computer scientist known for his work on information visualization and interactive data analysis, serving as a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Washington and director of its Interactive Data Lab. He was previously an assistant professor at Stanford University from 2009 to 2013 and co-founded the data-preparation company Trifacta in 2012, and he earned his BS, MS and PhD from UC Berkeley. He received the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award in 2016, an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship in 2012, and was named an ACM Fellow in the 2024 class for contributions to information visualization, human-centered data science and interactive machine learning.
