Ali Ghodsi, born in Iran in 1978, is an Iranian-Swedish-American computer scientist and entrepreneur specializing in distributed systems, big data and data management. After earning his doctorate at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology under Seif Haridi, he moved to UC Berkeley, where he worked with Scott Shenker, Ion Stoica, Michael Franklin and Matei Zaharia and helped start the Apache Mesos and Apache Spark projects, and he co-invented the dominant resource fairness scheduling concept that influenced systems such as Hadoop. In 2013 he co-founded Databricks, the company that commercializes Spark, and became its chief executive in 2016.
