Ci Yungui

Ci Yungui (1917 to July 21, 1990) was a Chinese computer scientist widely known as the father of China's supercomputers. Working first at Tsinghua University and then at Chinese military academies, he led development of Model 901, China's first vacuum tube digital computer prototype, completed in 1958, and went on in the 1960s to lead the 441B series, China's first transistorized general purpose computers. As vice president of the National University of Defense Technology from 1970, he served as chief designer of Yinhe-1, China's first supercomputer capable of one hundred million operations per second, completed in 1983, and was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980.
