Software And Its Engineering

Ian Murdock was an American software engineer, born on 28 April 1973 in Konstanz, West Germany, who died on 28 December 2015 in San Francisco. He is known as the founder of the Debian project, which he started in August 1993 while a student at Purdue University, and of Progeny Linux Systems, a commercial Linux company. He wrote the Debian Manifesto in January 1994 and conceived Debian as a Linux distribution that embraced open design and contributions from the free software community, naming it after himself and his then girlfriend Debra Lynn Roundy.
