Jayadev Misra

Computer Systems Organization

Jayadev Misra (born October 17, 1947) is an Indian-born, US citizen computer scientist who holds the Schlumberger Centennial Chair Emeritus in computer science at the University of Texas at Austin, known for contributions to the formal aspects of distributed and concurrent computing, including the UNITY programming notation and the Orc programming language. He jointly led the Verified Software Initiative with Sir Tony Hoare, earned his PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from Johns Hopkins University in 1972, and joined UT Austin's faculty in 1974 after briefly working for IBM, retiring from active teaching in 2015.
