Jeffrey Chuan Chu (July 14, 1919 - June 6, 2011) was a pioneer computer engineer whose work was critical to the computing industries of both the United States and China. Born in Tianjin, he earned degrees from the University of Minnesota and the Moore School at the University of Pennsylvania, was a member of the engineering team that designed the ENIAC, went on to work on early IAS-architecture computers, and from the 1980s helped modernize China through academic partnerships and teaching at Chinese universities; he received the first IEEE Computer Society Computer Pioneer Award in 1981.
