Mark Alan Horowitz is an American electrical engineer, computer scientist, inventor and entrepreneur who holds the Yahoo! Founders Professorship in the School of Engineering and the Fortinet Founders Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, with a joint appointment in electrical engineering and computer science; he chaired the electrical engineering department from 2008 to 2012. He is a co-founder and former chairman and chief scientist of Rambus Inc. He has authored more than 700 published conference and research papers, holds 374 patents as of 2023, and is among the most highly cited computer architects of all time. He received the ACM-IEEE CS Eckert-Mauchly Award in 2022.
