Michael J. Freedman

Michael J. Freedman is an American computer scientist who is the Robert E. Kahn Professor of Computer Science at Princeton University, working on distributed systems, networking and security. He earned degrees from MIT and a master's and PhD from the Courant Institute at New York University in 2005 and 2007, and designed the Coral Content Distribution Network with David Mazieres between 2004 and 2015; he later co-founded the database company Timescale. He received a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers in 2011, the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award in 2018, and became an ACM Fellow in 2019 and recipient of the SIGOPS Mark Weiser Award in 2021.
