Mihir Bellare is a cryptographer and professor at the University of California, San Diego, holding a Bachelor of Science from the California Institute of Technology and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has published widely in the field of cryptography, notably in provable security, much of it co-written with Phillip Rogaway, and contributed to the development of the random oracle model, HMAC and models for key exchange. In 2003 he received RSA Conference's Annual Award for outstanding contributions to cryptography, became an ACM Fellow in 2013, and won the 2019 Levchin Prize for Real-World Cryptography.
