Panagiota Fatourou

Panagiota Fatourou is a Greek computer scientist born in Kalamata, a professor at the University of Crete specializing in distributed and concurrent computing, including the design of data structures for use in non-blocking algorithms. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Crete in 1995 and a doctorate from the University of Patras in 1999 under Paul Spirakis, held a position at the University of Ioannina from 2001 to 2009, and carried out postdoctoral research with Kurt Mehlhorn and Faith Ellen. She chaired the ACM Europe Council from 2019 to 2021, founded the Greek chapter of the ACM Council on Women in Computing in 2018, and has served as an ACM Distinguished Speaker.
