Sebastian Thrun is a German-American computer scientist, entrepreneur and educator, an adjunct professor at Stanford University known for his work in self-driving cars, robotics, artificial intelligence and online education. He is co-founder of Google X, co-founder of Udacity, and former chief executive officer of Kitty Hawk Corporation, widely recognized for his contributions to autonomous driving systems as leader of the Google Chauffeur project, now known as Waymo, and as leader of the Stanford Racing team that won the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge, an event credited with accelerating research in self-driving technology.
