Tim Bray is a Canadian software developer, environmentalist and political activist, born in 1955, and one of the co-authors of the original XML specification, the markup language used to describe structured documents and data. His career took him through Digital Equipment Corporation, Sun Microsystems and Google, and he worked for Amazon Web Services from December 2014 until May 2020, when he left over concerns about the way whistleblowers were being terminated. He has also founded or co-founded several start-ups, among them Antarctica Systems.
