John William Poduska Sr. (born 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American engineer and entrepreneur who earned a doctorate in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT in 1962 and later headed NASA's Electronics Research Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He founded three computer companies: Prime Computer, described as the maker of the first virtual memory minicomputer; Apollo Computer, described as the maker of the first distributed, cooperating engineering workstation; and Stellar Computer. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1986 for technical and entrepreneurial leadership in computing and received the IEEE W. Wallace McDowell Award the same year.
