Willy Zwaenepoel (born 1956) is a Belgian computer scientist and professor of computer science at the University of Sydney, where he served as dean of the Faculty of Engineering from 2018 to 2024, known for research in distributed systems and academic leadership. He was the inaugural dean of the School of Computer and Communication Sciences at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne from 2002 to 2011 and spent eighteen years at Rice University from 1984 to 2002, advancing from assistant professor to full professor. Zwaenepoel is a Fellow of both IEEE and ACM, and in 2024 received the IEEE Harry H. Goode Memorial Award and was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
