DioneOS

Operating System

DioneOS is a preemptive multitasking real-time operating system built for microcontrollers with limited processing power and memory, typically tens of megahertz of clock speed and tens to hundreds of kilobytes of memory. It was developed by EleSoftRom Embedded Systems and written in C, with its first release for Texas Instruments' MSP430x microcontroller platform on 2 February 2011, followed by support for the ARM Cortex-M3 architecture in March 2013. DioneOS is aimed at autonomous embedded devices with minimal or no user interface, providing multitasking through familiar primitives such as semaphores and timers while keeping CPU overhead from thread management low. It exposes a command-line interface rather than any graphical environment, and the proprietary, closed-source system has since been discontinued.

Entity-backed identity for the license enum value this item already carries, resolved to a software license concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The license fact itself stays on the item unchanged.
