Google Cloud, also known as Google Cloud Platform, is a suite of cloud computing services offered by Google, spanning modular computing, data storage, data analytics and machine learning services alongside a set of management tools. Google first announced the platform in April 2008 with App Engine and made it generally available in 2011, running the service on the same infrastructure Google uses internally for products such as Search, Gmail and Google Docs. Google Cloud competes with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure among the major public cloud providers, and it is particularly known for its data-analytics and machine-learning offerings, which draw on tooling Google originally built for its own products.
