Factor (programming language)

Factor is a stack oriented, concatenative programming language created by Slava Pestov, who began the project in 2003 as a scripting language for a video game. Its first implementation, JFactor, was written in Java and ran on the Java virtual machine, before the project moved to an implementation written in C and Factor itself. Like Forth, Factor passes arguments through a data stack using a form of reverse Polish notation. It is dynamically typed, manages memory automatically, and includes extensive metaprogramming features, along with a self hosted optimizing compiler and its own interactive development environment. Factor is free and open source software under a BSD style license and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
