Alfred Spector

Alfred Spector (born October 14, 1954) is an American computer scientist who co-developed the Andrew File System and distributed transaction processing systems at Carnegie Mellon University, then founded Transarc Corporation in 1989 to commercialize the technology before it was acquired and absorbed into IBM. He later served as vice president of research at Google from 2007 to 2015 and chief technology officer at Two Sigma Investments from 2015 to 2020, and holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard and a PhD in computer science from Stanford. Spector is known for advocating CS+X, the integration of computer science across other academic disciplines.
