Bernard Vauquois (June 14, 1929 - September 30, 1985) was a French mathematician and computer scientist, a pioneer of computer science and machine translation in France. An astronomer turned computer scientist, he is known for his work on the ALGOL 60 programming language and for extensive work on the theoretical and practical problems of machine translation, of which the eponymous Vauquois triangle is one of the most widely known contributions. He was a professor at what would become Grenoble Alpes University.
