David Culler

David Ethan Culler, born November 12, 1959, is a computer scientist and former chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. His research addresses networks of small embedded wireless devices, planetary-scale internet services, parallel computer architecture, parallel programming languages, and high-performance communication, including TinyOS, Berkeley Motes, PlanetLab, Networks of Workstations, and the Threaded Abstract Machine; he earned his BA at Berkeley and his PhD at MIT, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2005 for contributions to scalable parallel processing systems, and is a Fellow of both ACM and IEEE.
