Information Systems

Hugh Darwen is an English computer scientist, born in 1943 in Warwick, who worked for IBM United Kingdom from 1967 until 2004. During that career he became involved in the development of the relational model of data, and he is known above all for his work on relational database theory. After leaving IBM he has continued as an author, lecturer, researcher and consultant specializing in that theory. With Chris Date he developed a body of writing that maintained and extended the relational model first conceived by Edgar F. Codd as a general model of data.
