Classic Mac OS and Apple Systems

This group gathers the operating systems Apple Computer and its NeXT lineage built and shipped as their own product, including Classic Mac OS itself, its Unix-based successor macOS, the NeXTSTEP and Rhapsody systems from the NeXT acquisition that led to it, the earlier Apple II family disk operating systems Apple DOS, Apple ProDOS and Apple SOS, Apple Pascal, the professional Unix workstation system A/UX, the handheld Newton OS, and the embedded A/ROSE and BridgeOS. Their shared identity is being Apple own branded operating system for its own hardware, as distinct from a third-party operating system merely ported to run on Apple hardware, such as MachTen, which belongs to Unix and Unix-Like Systems.
