Apache License 2.0

Software License

The Apache License is a permissive free-software and free and open source software license written by the Apache Software Foundation. It allows users to use the software for any purpose, to distribute it, to modify it, and to distribute modified versions of the software under the terms of the license, without concern for royalties. In January 2004 the Foundation decided to depart from the BSD model and produced version 2.0, whose stated goals included making the license easier for non-ASF projects to use, improving compatibility with GPL-based software and requiring a patent license on contributions that necessarily infringe a contributor own patents. The Foundation and the Free Software Foundation agree that version 2.0 is a free-software license compatible with version 3 of the GNU General Public License.
